Chapter 18 - Jimmy
Good waves out the front today. Only three days to to go and we fly to the US. Biggest YouTube Event Ever!
I was pretty excited about this and just checking if there was anything else serious that I needed to get done before leaving.
Everything seemed set. School all cool, Mr Crappy Lord all recorded and ready to roll, Ticket Booked! No reason why I shouldn’t head out for a surf.
Just haven’t seen Jimmy.
I opened my laptop, which I deliberately left behind for the last few days, and down rolled the emails.
All good, all good, Wo! Mrs James:
Hi Shane;
Haven’t seen Jimmy since last Friday. Any idea…..
Next one from Simal.
Shane;
Can’t get you. Call me now. This is serious.
Where are you?….
And more and more.
As I turned on my mobile, the txt messages stream burst open.
“Dad! I think I need your help mate. Jimmy has gone missing.”
We were in the car and around to Mrs James’s in minutes. There was a sense of emergency in the house and Jimmy’s mum looked completely exhausted and worried to the bone.
“Mrs James, what’s happened?”
Jimmy’s mum ran to me and hugged me tightly. Dad standing with his hand on the both of us.
“Jimmy has been involuntarily committed to the psych ward. The police….
Mr James burst into tears and could not speak. We gave her a minute and she braved to start speaking again. "The police called me and explained that he is detained and under observation. It seems that somehow we took some drug that sent him psychotic at some party and next thing you know he is in a Psych Ward.”
“They won’t even let me see him.”
She broke down and tried to hold the internal wale of sorry held down. Until we arrived, there was no one for her to express her grief.
“I don’t know what they have done to my boy in there. I know what they do. They can’t destroy my child…”
Dad was already on the phone to his attorney connections. They knew that they would never be able to come and attack me with the connections Dad had so way up high. But to get Jimmy was just a ridiculous low blow.
“We are trying to locate him Shane” dad spoke as he still searched and typed into his smartphone.
“Let’s get him fast Dad. They can’t get to him. You know how fast they can fix someone up real bad.”
“I know Shane.” Dad answered back, still working hard into his device to get the data he needed to find my best mate.
Dad’s sister arrived in a matter of minutes and we left her with Jimmy’s mum to ensure that she was ok.
We were in the car and as we drove to the city medical ward. This was the largest and most likely incarceration unit that he would have been taken to. We were about a mile away and then it came in. Dad had him located, but it was the East End Hospital, a half U-Turn and back out of the city to the notorious What St Mental Hospital.
“Let’s get him out of there Dad!"
