Chapter 22 - Get Them

I stepped into the room to find Jimmy laying in a bed, hooked up to a drip and a machine monitoring him. 

He was laid on his side just staring into his mind. I sat up beside him and stared into his his face, waiting to see if he would give me eye contact.

“It’s me Jimmy. Shane! I’m here mate.”

Jimmy just lay there completely blank and continued to stare into his mind. 

I waited a while and then spoke again. “I’m here jimmy!”

Jimmy slowly turned his focus onto me. His eyes welled up and he shook his head, indicating that he did not want to speak.

My best mate. My surfing sole bother. Lying here with his brains half fried. His eyes all blacked with darkness and sorrow. My best friend lying here a destroyed being.

He lifted his right hand indicating that he wanted to write on paper. Within seconds I had pen and paper in his hands. 

He focused super heavily on the paper in his hand and slowly wrote two works onto the paper.

“Get Them!”

I knew exactly what he was talking about. Jimmy and I had been planning this for such a long time  and just wanted to ensure we could pull it off. Pull it off and not get shut down the minute we blasted it out. 

I knew exactly what he was asking me to do.

He help the pen and wrote one more word. 

“Go!”

Both of our eyes welled up us glassy water and the tears fell simultaneously from both of our faces.

He just held his head the pillow and sobbed. Writhing and moaning in anger.

I walked out of that room a caved in man. From that day forward, I was no longer a teenager that could play and have such crazy fun that we were so used to. Our friendship was built on craziness. We always got away with it. But not today.

The trip to the US for what was supposed to be the time of my life turned out to be a mission to save mankind. What power did I hold in my hands, It was time to put it all on the line. I had now seen oh so closely the product that this psych overrun government was trying to achieve with the leaders of tomorrow. 

The Zombie Apocalypse in fact becoming a reality.

Dad flew with me and I knew that he would be very close at my side for as long as it took. We arrived in LA with all the glitter and glam and just rode it like a wave. I was the biggest YouTuber on the planet now. 

About to gamble it all.
